BioAsia Innovation Award for young scientists below the age of 35 years was first introduced in the year 2007. This year the award was named after the Late Honorable Chief Minister, Dr. Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy as YSR BioAsia Innovation Award. The award for 2010 consisting of INR 1 Lac and a citation was presented during the event to Dr. Siddharth Tiwari, Plant Molecular Biology and Genetic Engineering Division, National Botanical Research Institute, Lucknow for his innovative research on "Investigations on recombinant peanut seeds as anti-cholera-rabies fusion vaccine antigen expression system:
An approach towards the development of plant-based affordable vaccine". Besides, another award for the school children of standards 10th, 11th and 12th class, named BioAsia Genius Award which was instituted for novel concepts from students for the first time in BioAsia 2009. Ms. Lanka Sai Tejaswi, Kendriya Vidyalaya, CLRI, Adyar, Chennai clinched this award which consisted of a citation and INR 50,000/- cash for her project on "Microbial World in Cell Phones". BioAsia 2010 attracted a wide range of entrepreneurs including senior executives of leading Biotech companies, business development teams from large and midsized Pharmaceutical companies, eminent
scientists from R & D institutions and universities, investors and other industry experts, etc. Number of foreign scientists participated in BioAsia was 250 from countries like United States, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom,China, Iran, Japan, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Thailand etc.
Furthermore, the special events at BioAsia 2010 Viz. Bioparks Session, CEO Conclave and Indo European Networking Reception turned out to be a big attraction
